Root a little help....

Ok, I found out that I have 1.6 on my MyTouch 3G, or donut as Ive seen, now my question is, if I want a new rom for my phone do I download the zip drive and put it on my card and then wipe and install the new one, cause I really like the Hero's look and the nexus one but I dont wanna run the risk of bricking my phone, any help is greatly apreciated!

Yep Im one of those that asked similar question but after i read like most of them. Just read this Cyanogen Wiki, You have to "downgrade" to 1.5 to root and then be able to install the Rom you wish to have.
