Ads constantly pop up on Samsung Galaxy 8

I have had my phone for three months now, and I've tried everything to keep ads from randomly popping up. They started from day one. I've never downloaded an app outside of Google Play, I've gone through every setting on my phone and unchecked everything that could be leading to these ads, and I've done all of the research I can think of, yet the ads continue to show up.

These ads are constant, sometimes even when my phone is turned off. Suddenly I will hear voices and realize an ad is playing on my phone. They pop up while I am making a phone call, they prevent me from shutting off my alarm in the morning, they prevent me from getting into my camera app quickly.

The ads don't open in a browser. They take over the entire screen and have an X in the top right corner. They are usually ads that are either presented by adchoices or by Google Play. I've gone into Google Play to try to solve the issue and still there is no answer. I've attached a screen cap of one of these annoying ads.

I'm at my wits end with this!

There are apps (unfortunately) from the Play store that come with adware. It's not against the rules, but I would put a big red warning banner on the ones that do.

I think you've got one of those. Are you using and Phone optimizing or anti virus apps? These are notorious for adware. Anything from Cheetah Mobile?

No, I only use Verizon security and I run scans often. I do not have anything from Cheetah mobile. On my last phone, a Galaxy S5, I had the same exact apps downloaded, but never had an ad problem. It was only once I got this phone that these ads started popping up.

It very likely downloaded the most recent versions of those apps though, could be different versions to what you had on your S5
. That's one thing that updates might do, is put intrusive ads into apps as certain (frequently Chinese) companies seek to monetize more and increase their revenue on their "free" apps.

Have you got anything that's GO, UC, DU(Baidu), Sogou, ES Explorer, Qihoo 360, flashlight apps with excessive permissions, etc, all are possible culprits.

I am not familiar with any of the apps you've listed above. It is very possible that the ads are coming from apps who've changed their policies to allow ads to pop up all of the time.

I've gone through all of my most used apps to change the settings and to no avail, the ads still appear.

Would it be possible for you to post a list of the apps and games you've installed. Screen-shots of the list of user installed apps in settings should be OK. As we might just recognise a known adware culprit.

I have the same problem. I don't think it's the apps, because I have very few on my phone. I don't use it for much other than talk, text and taking photos. I'm convinced it's just google ads. I have set every app to block ads. Google won't let you do that. It will only let you choose what kind of ads you get. I have Bitdefender security software with VPN, as well as Adblock, but still the ads are there every time I pick up my phone. It is frustrating to try to answer a call and an ad blocks the entire screen. Like you, this only started recently. I had not downloaded any new apps. Bitdefender says my phone is clean. It's Google Ads. If anybody knows how to cut them off, I'd love to hear it.

Hard to give a full answer without seeing exactly what is happening. Next time any of the ads pop up, try pressing and holding the menu bar at top of ad if there is one. if no menu bar try pressing and holding at various points on screen to see if you get an information pop up, this may tell you what is generating the ad or pop up or may give you an option to stop notifications from it.
Goodluck.

This just began happening to me as well. I have Norton Mobile and have also backtracked to delete recently installed apps.....no result yet! I'd love to hear what other suggestions are out there because I'm about ready to switch to an I-Phone!!!!!

I've always been a huge advocate of all things Google, but his full-screen ad thing along with the information censoring & manipulation scandal is almost too much!!
