AIM for android has been released

Aol mobile has released aim for android.. it is really good.. you can start downloading it from the market for free!

ive been using ebuddy simply for AIM since i dont use any of the other messaging services, so i'll definitely check this out! thanks! +1

Wow it's really good. It's about time they released an official one. I love that AIM icon so much lol

If you download the new AIM beta, it lets you sync AIM for Android and the Windows client with Facebook Chat, so yes, FB chat is now on Android.

Thanks, got it figured out! About the volume... did you check the media volume in the sound & display settings?

Does this keep you online?
Meebo and some others liked to disconnect after a while...
eBuddy stayed on but it had very annoying advertisements which made me never update my status...

Hope this is the AIM that i want!

I got disconnected a few times with this. I liked meebo because it reconnected when i disconnected. Also with AIM it doesn't use the LED notification and when you open AIM through the notification at the top it doesn't go straight to the message.

Now all we need is an official Yahoo Messenger App...but I DON'T see that happening..too much competition between them and Google..

Just downloaded this app. Looks great, good feel. Only complaint so far is that it doesn't use the notification led. Also force closed, only did it once, hoping it was a one time thing. We'll see how the battery holds up, and cant get on facebook IM.

**EDIT**
also can't get it to do ANYTHING when I get an IM... so no way to know unless I randomly check.

I have been using facebook chat on my phone for weeks with "Meebo" its just a chat client that will allow you sign into all your chat accounts at once.

Most of them disconnect while idle to save battery. Thats just how they work.

its the first version, im sure they will address all of these issues and more in later versions.. for now.. i like the UI better than anything on the market so ill stick with it

I've been using it most of the day, it's the best aim out. I would like to see LED notifications implemented. And some customizable settings because there aren't really any options.

For those of you that can't get the facebook im's, here's how:
To get Facebook Chat working if grayed out: go to aim.com -> click on the "Now in Beta" banner midway down -> select use aim on web -> sign in -> click on the "Facebook chat banner" -> sign in to Facebook -> restart Android Aim on your phone

I still can't get the facebook im's, I don't see any button around my buddy list button for it. And in my settings the facebook im option is grayed out???
You must download the beta version of AIM onto your computer and authorize it there first, then it will show up once you sign in on your droid. http://products.aim.com/beta

I wish there was an official Windows Live Messenger that was out that worked as well as the computer one. I'm still using the G1/Hero/Whatever's IM client that came stock. It works well.

my notification sound isnt working with it, i even reinstalled it. the boxes are checked too.

hopefully they implement video chat into it, so we can turn the phone around and use it as a webcam instead of using qik.

FB chat has been on Android for a while with other programs.

Personally I use E buddy, as I can sync to Google Talk, MSN, AIM and FB so I have all the bases covered.
