Root Alas i am a super noob.. bricked phone

OKay flash image gui installed. Do i want kernel image or recovery image to be flashed also should i clear dalvik and cache?

hopefully this will work. I do really appreciate the help

okay i got gingerbreak up and running it gives me the option to unroot... so that means im rooted right?
download a terminal emulator from the market and type su
If you get a # your rooted properly. If you get $ something is not right. Select the unroot option on gingerbreak. Then re root.
Goodnight.

*Most probable: you didn't flash gapps :p
Inferior Humans Roms (the roms I use and love) tells you what to do (I would just start out fresh and download the newest version of mrg666's rom) on their official github Inferior Humans github
Make sure you read the warning
WARNING: Some of the recent Optimus V phones require a different screen driver than the older ones. These new Optimus V phones currently are only supported by builds dated after September 1. If you get a black screen after flashing one of the above ROMs dated before September 1, you probably have one those new Optimus V phones. You can find help in here. This warning will be removed when all of the IHO builds are updated.
*Note this only applies to the roms that have google apps preinstalled
Happened to me to for some reason, the reason is that market apps installer is supposed to pop up after setting up the phone, if it doesn't then market won't show up. So what you do is download "Any Cut" (I downloaded it from market and copied the apk from /data and upload it to MediaFire myself). Here is the Apk Link. Have Unknown sources enabled in settings to install it(Settings->Applications->Unknown sources). After installed open it and select "New shortcut"->"Activity"->"Market Apps Installer". Then click OK, find it on your home screen and open it :)

Please listen to me: if you used ROM Manager to flash a recovery, and attempted to flash a ROM with it, you could have messed something up if you have a Hitachi screen. When you tried to gain root access with a command prompt and got a $ instead of a # is clear indication that something is not right.
You need to fix the underlying hidden problem or you will make things worse.
to determine if you are properly rooted with su and Busybox installed properly and with the correct permissions is the first order of business.
We.need to try and get you the gapps installed first now though, so go back into your recovery by turning phone off and while holding both home button and volume down button, at the same time press the power button until you see the lg logo flash. Then you can let go.

Once in the recovery screen select the wipe cache partition option. If you used a CWMod recovery then the camera button is your selection key. If something else try either the camera button, the home button,or the menu button(if you try one and the screen goes black, hit again and try another until you find the one that's right for that recovery)
After your selection a new screen will pop up.Scroll down and select yes.
Now go to advanced section and scroll to,wipe dalvik cache. Do the same thing you did with the cache wipe. Once done hit the back button and scroll to the install zip from sd card option. Then choose Select zip from sd card option. Scoll up to get to bottom quicker. Select the gapps that you put on the sd card(if you followed the You Tube video). It will install the gapps. When done select the reboot system now option.

Once in the home screen if it ask you to set up a google account or anything else select skip. Go to your market app, which is in the app drawer for sure, and sign in to your google account. When done while still in market download a terminal emulator and or Root Checker.
In the terminal emulator type in su then hit the enter key. If you get $ after typing in su then you have a problem. If you get a # after typing in su then your good(superuser should pop up and ask to accept, select ok)
If you got a $ go to the. Root Checker App and check for root and then Busybox using the advanced option.
I hope you get a # and not a $

If you got a # then read "The Truth About ROM Manager" . Read the whole thing this time.

AndyOpie150 i just wanna thank you for all your help. After my last post i did end up flashing gapps and now everything is working perfect. (better than before actually).
Thanks to everyone who responded. Because of my experience on this thread i will be sticking around these forums and learning more so that i can help other people like you guys helped me.
thanks again =D

**Btw I went ahead and opened terminal on my phone and enter su and ended up with a # this time. So i should be good as far as my root is concerned**

Glad you're squared away now, allkingsfall, and I'm glad you'll be sticking around. This is the best 'droid forum I've found for helpful members, that's why I stick around and actually post. I've been lurking on XDA for about three years and I think I've posted twice over there.

Good deal. I kind of was hoping things weren't done right with the command prompt, which would cause it to show $ instead of #. I figured you should be ok considering what you were able to accomplish but I've learned by experience not to take things for granted. Checking and verifying that you had a good root was the right thing to due. Now if something isn't right it's not that.

Don't forget to make a backup of your new ROM in the recovery ( this is called a nandroid backup)
THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND MUST BE DONE.
