Android 2.2 Tablet. I desperately need help!

I've had my android tablet for over a month now and i have not been able to connect to the internet! i am sitting a foot away from my internet broadband box and the android says that it is not in range to my Orange Livebox-7280. I've browsed the settings for help and I've searched the internet and ive also looked in the instruction booklet which makes it sound so simple but I havn't found anything relevant. Please can someone help me connect my android to the internet so i can finally use it?
