Android "m" name speculation thread! It's Marshmallow, 6.0!

Yes ... that works until one of the iphoners asks ... "what can you tell us about lollipop"?

... or you can point out that Google is second only to Apple in market capitalization at $395 billion, but given growth rates and projections may surpass Apple by the end of this decade and be the first company to reach the $1 trillion mark. Besides, it's no sillier than Apple's cat names or the alliterative animal names Ubuntu releases. Microsoft is the only major player that's been inconsistent with their naming and because of that no one remembers them.

Geeks and nerds love whimsy. Business leaders love profit. If you ask me, it's a win-win.

I prefer moon cakes.

They had cupcake. How about muffin?
Muffins are grown up cupcakes that pretend to be better than cupcakes but never are.

They come in more varieties, can be seriously healthier (especially the sawdust flavored ones), feature more genuine chocolate (not sure what that means but it's true) and so much more.

But they're inferior to cupcakes and it's just that no one wants to be the first to say that out loud.

I like the red bean mooncake the best, but I'm not sure if I could vote between that and moon pie. Unlike muffins vs cupcakes.

Well despite the K rumours we haven't had a pie yet so I'm thinking either mirangue pie or moon pie (though I've never tried one of them)

Sweet mallows grow in salt marshes and that's how the confection gets its name. Except they don't use the plant to make it anymore unless probably you're rich, or have too much time on your hands, or know of an exotic confectionery.

Not everyone knows that. :D

But eclair was?
Omg yes. Yes it is.

We get eclairs from high-tone bakeries, cheap chains, in the frozen section of the supermarket (they're pretty good mostly frozen) and anyway else.

Eclairs transcend national borders and may one day lead to world peace.

Marmite only leads to the neverending Marmite vs Vegemite war (with Vegemite always winning of course) so, yeah.

@psionandy - you're welcome, my pleasure. :D

Isn't an eclair French pastry?
Isn't sauerkraut a German cabbage recipe? Didn't chickens come from Asia? Hot peppers from Mexico?

Gingerbread came from Armenia.

The first donut recipe may have come from England. Its origins are now under debate.

Americans are not a people, we're a collection of peoples so we claim everything as our own. It's become fashionable to hate us for that, but that started in the 18th century and we still don't care. :D

Especially with food. If it's good and we can get the ingredients we make it. If we can't get the ingredients, we fake it. If it's sweet, we want more of it.

Android transcends borders.

Just like food and taste buds. :)
