I am a new android convert. I recently replaced my old Winows Mobile 6.5.1 Htc Touch Pro 2 with the Samsung Captivate.

I have been loyal to WM since 2005 but since Microsoft decided to move-on so have I.

I have been able to duplicate most of the functionality I had with WM. Except I haven't been able to find a file recovery/undelete tool that I could use on the phone it's self.

On the WM platform there are a few undelete applications available (e.g. Wizcode undelete).
But I haven't found any for Android!

I've yet to hear of such an app for Android. There are backup programs, namely Titanium Backup (needs root) that can be quite effective for backing up apps and their corresponding data, and of course you can restore from those, but no app in the Windows sense of recovery/undelete.

Maybe not on the phone, but I'd assume if you hooked it up in storage mode, you could use Windows file recovery tools seeing how the SD card is (usually) formatted with FAT32.

Is your phone rooted? If not you will need to do that first. What Kind of phone do you have?

Don't worry, you can restore files off android.

If you are looking for android recovery. This might be your right choice.

Yes. An SD card should be readily recoverable via PC using the usual recovery tools. A phone's internal partition that can be mounted by the PC using the standard USB mass-storage mechanism can also be recovered.

Note that separate internal system partitions on the phone will not be accessible this way, and nothing at all on the Galaxy Nexus (or a similar phone) will be, since it provides Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) but not the USB mass-storage protocol.
