Australian Galaxy S in United States?

I'm leaving for the US from Australia tomorrow, and I want to use my Galaxy S (on Optus here) with a prepaid sim there. Does anyone know if the cell bands are compatible or if I should use one carrier over another? I used AT&T there before moving here and most of my family there has it, so I'd prefer that if my Galaxy S has the same cell bands.

The GS supports the following bands:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100

AT&T uses
GSM 850 / 1900
3G 850/1900

T-Mobile uses
GSM 850 / 1900

Verizon uses
GSM 850/1900

So yes, your GS will work in US with any of these 3 operators, but if you want to use 3G, it has to be AT&T
