Help Backup after water?

My captivate went for a bit of a swim. I know the phone seems to be on, I can hear it booting up and doing things... but the screen doesnt work. Its spent the last two days in rice, but no luck. Now I'm just deciding what to do-

1) Take it apart and try to dry it (even after the screws are out, it seems fused shut?)
2) Take it to a phone repair place (looking at $145 for this, and it might not be fixable)
3) Back it up with bitpim or something and just buy a new phone

I bought the phone used so I dont have any warranty or insurance on it.

Sounds like your digitizer may be shot. Used prices for new Captivates aren't much more than $145:
