Based off the update on June 8th

So when I updated my phone, it was already acting strange because apparently my phone needed to be restarted again to update a few more apps (Google Play Store being one of them) and I had made the mistake of downloading the Google Store app off Cnet before I had done this reset. My phone now struggles to make any sort of download from the store (already tried clearing data from Google play services and store to no avail) and I'm debating factory resetting since now my text messages won't even send. Should I go to my cell phone provider and finally give up the ghost?
