Got this from another forum: Motorola Owners' Forum acknowledged the following: Quote: "A very small percentage of the doors are a the low end of our specifications. If you are having a problem with your door falling off, contact our call center. Use the link on our forum home page that says "Contact Us" and you can either call or chat or e-mail. We'll send you a new one. Sorry for the problem." Here is the link: https://www.motorola.com/feedback.jsp
Nice to hear. One of the early reviews noted this problem, and they solved it by very slightly bending the prongs outward. Much better to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
I hear a lot of people complain about this and many are taking there units back because of it. there is a very simple fix for this. YouTube - Battery cover fix for Motorola DROID
Awesome! I was disappointed because mine fell off twice in one day while I was at work. I wouldve been distraught if I lost it. Trick works like a charm!
Thanks, I've sent a message to Motorola using the forum you mentioned; glad to see I wasn't the only one with this problem.
Thanks for the post Legacy; makes more sense than bending the prongs; I'm still going to wait till Motorola sends me (if they send me) a door replacement before trying the metal panel bending method.
np. i think the inconsistancy in the tightness of the cover has to do solely with that piece being so flimbsy
Excellent find and excellent fix. No more worrying about whether or not it's there. I've almost lost mine a couple times.
has anyone been told there being send a new door cause i contacted them and they want me to buy one from there site for 9.99..i expected this to be a free replacement
Same here; I went to that link from above, and they sent me to their website to buy a replacement; screw that, this is their problem and they should fix it free; I'll email them and if they won't send it for free, I might try the screwdriver to the metal plate thing that the video above suggested.
Just filled out the form and told them of the problem. They responded that a free one was on the way.
i just emailed them back..and said i want a free replacment that others are getting because the door is faulty
see this thread for a business card fix: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15292-battery-cover-falling-off.html#post139213 Motorola is responsive via link mentioned above, originally referred me to their webpage to order a $9.99 cover; I protested, and they are sending me a cover for free. Hoping it will fix it, if not, will try the business card trick. I'd much rather do something reversible than go bending metal personally.
+1 another member getting a free replacement. I just did the live chat thingy thru motos support site, an without hesitation, "please give me your exact address, and I will send a free replacement out to you." Even if it doesnt fix it 100%, hell, u cant go wrong with a free one from moto
I solved mine by placing aprox. a 1 inch piece of electrical tape on the back side of the door to decrease the gap between the door and the battery. If you need to you can stack 2 or 3 pieces together. Works great
Tape! Business Cards! Free replacement doors! No free replacement doors! Bending Prongs! Why are you people having to do any of this garbage?
