Best keyboard

Trying perfect keyboard as well. I like this one as well as the jelly bean keyboard I posted. Basically, what it will come down to is that every individual has their own preferences. That's what makes the idea of android great over iOS and iPhone. Find what keyboard suits you best.

hi
i normally use Smart keyboard pro on my old desire, but had been trying out Swype beta just before swapping to s3

But i found that swype on s3 was poor compared to the beta version, so am now using Touchpal - it is VERY good imo - better than swype

cheers
dan

I also use Smart Keyboard! I didn't think anyone else used it anymore, lol. I tried different keyboards such as Swiftkey and Perfect keyboard but I always end up going back to Smart Keyboard.

I've tried them all. Closest thing to the great HTC keyboard.

SwiftKey user here...paid for that shit. Only app I've paid for..it's that good ;)

They're adding a "Swype" like function soon so don't bother with Swype when you can get best of both worlds on one app.

Will the "Flow" version be an update (if you buy the previous version)? Or will it require re-purchasing?

I tried using swiftkey but the permissions creeped me out. Plus they don't have my native language anyway

I highly recommend Thumb Keyboard. This keyboard has multiple layouts for you to choose from. It also allows you to scale the keyboard size to the size you prefer. There is also a one-handed keyboard layout for portrait mode which makes it easy to type by holding the keyboard in one hand and just using your thumb to type. It shrinks the keyboard and shifts it to one side or the other depending on what hand you use. That way, your thumb can reach all of the keys without having to reach all the way across the screen. For large phones like the Note and SGS3, Thumb Keyboard has a split keyboard layout for landscape mode. I found that the split keyboard makes it easy for my thumbs to reach all of the letter keys. The keyboard feature that I find is available on Thumb that is not on others like SwiftKey is the ability to turn off auto-spacing. I find that SwiftKey is inconsistent when adding spaces and I cannot turn that feature off. I like Thumb Keyboard because I can turn off auto-spacing as I like to add spaces myself.

Swiftkey is perhaps the most annoying keyboard out there. I had high hopes for it, but every time you use punctuation it inserts a space. This makes it too annoying for me. Im using a Jelly Bean port right now. Have yet to find a KB worth a damn.

SUCKS :(

This was one of the primary reasons I do not like SwiftKey. It keeps putting annoying spaces and I cannot turn it off. I also find that it is someone inconsistent on when it automatically adds a space. I kept having to go back and delete or insert a space here and there because it does it so inconsistently.

Ditto.

I don't think you two used it for long. You can turn it off..and also it doesn't enter a space everytime..and if it does the keyboard actually knows when you're putting punctuation after so it removes the space. It only puts a space when you start typing a word again.

I searched through all of the settings and could not find where I can set it to never put a space unless I actually press the space bar. Can you please, tell me where in the settings I can configure it that way?

The fact that it doesn't enter a space every time is the problem I have with it. It does it sometimes and not others.

swiftkey is great if you happen to type similar messages all the time. I type "Okay, see you soon" all the time and all I have to do it hit o and it'll predict the rest.

If you like to change it up all the time, swiftkey tends to have bad predictions(not always but most of the time)

I use swiftkey if you haven't figured that out yet.

I tend to use a lot of acronyms, particularly for proper nouns. For instance, if I happen to be talking about Samuel L. Jackson and I have to type this name multiple times in a message, I start using SLJ. I do this a lot, so I find it is not worth saving these TLA's in my dictionary all the time as I may not use those proper nouns again for a long time.

Wow, swiftkey is really popular. I just cant go back to pecking text. I tried swiftkey but after swype I cant go back to that old archaic way of texting. Swype used to be my favorite before I got the S3, but for some reason on the S3 it didnt capitalize the letter "I" unless it was at the beginning of a sentence. I know thats a small thing, but it really annoyed me. Another thing that annoyed me with Swype on the S3 was that when using handcent for text, if the last word I swyped was still underlined it would save it as a draft in the next text. Just annoying. Thank goodness I found Touchpal. It does the swype motion, word prediction, and capitalized my "I" havent went back since.
