I know this changes quickly.
Been running Virtuous for a long time and just ran into a boot loop and wiped the phone.

Looking for the best ROM out there.
Anyone got suggestions? Looking for something Stable.

Open to Sense or stock.

ZZzzzz its all about preference. If you like sense go skyraider or Re-engineered. If you like AOSP go CM6.1 or give MIUI a try. If you're feeling up to it go CM7. It's on the 36th nightlu atm(changes every night). But they have been VERY stable for me and a lot of people.

Trying Incredibly Re-Engineered right now and it is a little weird for me.

I don't like how it takes over all the fonts (including webpage)

CM7 is very good at this point well polished and a great performer. Battery life is lacking a little imo it's not bad just not as good as it can get. I'm a big fan.

There are sooooo many to choose from. I've flashed them all and at the moment Incred Re-engineered 2.3 is in a league of it's own. The battery life trumps just about everything and the smoothness/fluidity of the UI is 2nd to none.

As stated it comes down to what you like so try a few and see what floats your boat.

i prefer skyraider 3.5, but i have had some issues with it, for example when i use the phone to make calls it lags with making the call i have to press the persons name several times, and it may work, also i use system panel to kill apps running in the background and i have notices that my widget on the home screen to kill those apps does not work, i have switched back to virtuos 3.2 and both those issues above works flawlessly, i prefer skyraiders drop down screen with the widgets for bt, wifi, gps, etc, and i would like to have this incoroprated in virtuos, does anyone know if it can be done?

I say skyraider 3.5 also. I've tried alot of different roms and have gone back to SR everytime. Re engineered has a very close second imo. I have had NO issues whatsoever with SR.

I can't recommend Virtuous anymore due to the fact that the developer is behind on Sense apps.

For a stock ROM With tweaks, go with Redemption (current is 2.3, but 2.4 is on its way). The developer also makes his own kernels, and has many kernel options available.

For tweaked Sense, Incredibly re-engineered is supposedly the king in terms of performance.

For the new Z ROM, there are a lot of choices. They've finally got 720p working, but there are still little issues here and there.

For Sense(less) (Sense framework and stability, but vanilla UI and widgets), Skraider Athena is king for now.

Lastly, for AOSP, CM7 is the way to go. The nightlies seem to be more stable than CM6.1, though some features are still pending, such as stock battery mods or full camera support (it works, but no option to change recording format or resolution currently).

I'll throw my vote in for incRom. First Rom that didn't have me rolling back to skyraider. Didn't like appfolders but that takes about 3 minutes to fix. Couple of key things that I like didn't work with re engineered, although it was really nice. Battery life the same as with incRom so far.

ROMs are really a personal preference. I've had the best experiences with Re-Engineered 2.3. It's fast, stable and highly customizable. CM7 is really nice as well. The battery isn't as good as sense yet, but I'm sure it'll keep getting better. If you're a flashaholic, you have to at least try CM7. Warm 2.2 is a damn fine ROM as well. It doesn't get a lot of love lately, but it's stable and fast and very nice. It was the first custom ROM I flashed on my Inc and I stuck with it for a long time. If you haven't tried it it's a good option. I've never flashed any Z ROMs (need stability, phantom calls and others issues don't work for me at all) so no opinion on any of them. IR 2.3 is my daily driver right now and it'll take a lot for me to switch from it because it's that good.

I started out with Warm 2.2 as well, thanks to a friends recommendation. Stuck with it for a long time, def a great rom. I haven't tried any of the aosp roms yet, but am currently running IR 2.3. Best rom I have tried, hands down. Don't plan on changing it any time soon.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I tried CM6 (because it was in Rom Manager) and I like it. Got it setup how I like it but now am intrigued to try CM7.

Can I upgrade to CM7 without a wipe? Will I loose much of my settings?
How do the nightlies work?

Redemption Rom 2.3 has been extremely stable for me. I have not tried one of his kernels yet but I will soon. This rom straightened out all the little problems I had with the stock one (FROYO).

I'm abandoning Virtuous because the developer is MIA - doesn't update anything or AT LEAST keep us up to date.

Is everyone recommending CM7 or Skyraider?

So is it CM7 for speed and Skyraider for battery life?

How is gingerbread working for everyone?

CM is AOSP, while SkyRaider is Sense. SkyRaider offers better stability while CM offers better performance. I'm still on CM7 nightly #32 and it's been amazing. Just waiting on them to post the RC.

For me personally, CM7 has been the best.

I am on release #38 and at 70% RC1 downloaded as I write this. So far, it has been smooth and has a super fast load time... multiple exchange accounts(push) etc...Good battery life... UI configurability ... Four lock screen options. I can't believe the pace of changes they incorporate....

I'm using athena 1.2 right now, it has been combined with CM7, so you kinda get a bundle pack

Athena is:
- Vanilla.
- Has customizable widgets on notification panel.
- is awesome.

Try it, if nothing else.

I'm using redemptive right now. Switched from Warm 2.2 but I liked it as well,

I don't switch ROMs as much as most here, but the three I've used (Virtuous, Warm, and RR) have all been stable and I personally didn't have any problems with any of them and would recommend to anybody looking for a sense ROM

I do keep sexy rosie though, it's my fav at least until I figure out laucherpro, I've seen some awesome widgets that I love, just having trouble finding them

I believe it's a full wipe, front to back so you will lose all your setting with a full wipe. The nightlies are pretty good. Stable and fast, I haven't gotten great battery life though. A RC was just released, but they will still be doing the nightlies if I heard correctly. Don't forget to flash google apps after the ROM.

I like the Sense, so I stick with Sense mods. Right now I'm using the setup below from my siggy in another forum, and love it.

New to android or just need to brush up on the basics? Abe has every thing you need Here:

Droid Incredible 2.2 Rooted
ROM: Redemption Rom 2.3
Kernel Version #9

No problems with the ROM, but I am having problems with ROM Manager since they updated it to 3.0. I can no longer install/backup/or doing anything while running the app. I'm hoping they fix it soon. Any alternative ROM Managers would be helpful.

In order for the new ROM to function properly, you need to wipe. Always backup after you get it the way you want it, then you can just switch between the ROMs.

I'll add that you only need to backup if you want to keep the ROM for future use. If you don't like it or know you'll only use it for a few days, there's really no need to make a backup.

Flash ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.2 (2.5.0.5 if you're on SLCD) and you'll be able to flash the old Sense ROMS as much as you want. CM3 requires a new scripting and ROMs are slowly being updated for it. Lou has said that 2.4 will support it. Other ROM devs have updated their existing ROMs to support it. Give it a few days.
