Help calendar Syncing issue

I have a friend with an S2 running ginger bread. everything syncs fine except the calendar. All of the other things are showing that they have synced but the calendar which is tied to gmail always has the white sync icon beside it and it is not turning. It will manually sync with the check mark off and then on but wont auto sync.

I tried clearing the cache of the calendar and then re syncing that worked once but wont continue to auto sync.

Any ideas??????????

Does it not sync at all? Have you tried creating/amending an event?
Also make sure your calendars are set to google and not local as you may perhaps be editing a local event.

one way to force a sync of ALL your google calendar events is to export and re-import your calendars on google. this will update the time stamp for every event and sync them back into your google calendar of your handset. this is also a good way to sync past events after a factory reset.
