Can I open a Word document on my phone?

I'm using a Motorola Triumph as a mini tablet PC with wifi only, no cell service. I would like to save a Word document to the SD card, then put the card in my phone and open the document. I am a total newbie with this phone, and I don't see anything about file management or a shortcut to the SC card on the screen. Do I need to download a special app for that? I have version 4.0.4 installed.

Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Yes as long as you have the proper app. You can download ES File Explorer from Play Store so you can navigate your SD card, and Kingsoft Office as a free Office app.

I recommend Kingsoft, seems to be one of the best free Android office suites.

When I download and try to install ES File Explorer I get the error message "package file is invalid".

If you are having issues with getting it from Play Store...

You can also get ES File Explorer for free from the Amazon appstore if you have that app installed on your device (and an Amazon account).

Amazon.com: ES File Explorer: Appstore for Android
