Can someone tell me what the point of pocket god is?

I downloaded it last night and wanted to know what the point of it is..It's a little confusing,i don't see the point.What am i supposed to do with the little people? They just stand there or dance or whatever,also it started me from level 31 or episode 31 or something...Cant i start from the beginning? It looks cool its just a little confusing and it doesnt explain much in help either.
