Root Can't use ##virgin# on rooted and rom'd phone

Hello everybody,

Last August(2011) I rooted with gingerbreak and changed my rom to BACKside IHO CM7.1 Gingerbread rom. Everything has worked really well until 5 days ago when my cell data connection stopped working. I have tried removing my battery and going into airplane mode, but neither changed anything.

Virgin Mobile wants me to dial ##virgin# to change my MSID and MDN, but nothing happens when I do that except I get an error message from the voice. Is the only way to change my MSID and MDN to go back to a stock rom? Or is there some trick to be able to dial ## numbers on the backside rom?

Iho which is the base for backside doesn't have the system settings needed to do that although it may in the future, so you would need to flash a froyo rom either harmonia or bumblebee do the activation process then wipe it and flash backside again.

Or restore your stock nandroid and activate that way before returning to BACKside.

I concur with macfett. Had same thing happen to me. Lost 3g and I called them and they had me use the activate app in the stock software. My 3g was back within 10 minutes.

Thanks everybody. I'll try going back to the stock rom this weekend to give it the time needed to make sure I don't screw anything up. I have to backup my data too.
