Help Car Dock in Portrait - Cannot Disable AutoRotate

bigcheez

Lurker
I have a Droid2 that I use in the car dock. I have it turned to portrait orientation. When I hit a big bump or pothole, sometimes the phone is shaken enough to send into landscape mode for a brief moment. This effects the performance of some apps. For some reason the OS will not let me disable the autorotation while in the car dock ... solutions or workarounds anyone?

I use my car dock every day and have never had this issue. do you have the thing on the top pulled down? that should keep it in place even with some big bumps.

I'm guessing that the bump is causing the phone to move away from the magnet that tells it it's in the car dock. (Assuming the Motorola brand dock.) As mentioned immediately prior, if you have the hold-down, spring-loaded bar on your dock, flip it into the engaged position and that should hold the phone pretty securely.

If not, all I can suggest is a rubber band.

I do have the motorola dock and do flip the springloaded retainer thingy to hold the phone in place. As I indicated in my first post and thread title, I use the car dock rotated 90deg ( in portrait. mode). I have tested my situation by holding the dock in my hands. Turning off autorotation has no effect while in the dock.
