Root [CDMA] Embarrassing...I can't get into bootloader mode..

What is the trick to get into bootloader mode? I've been trying the last hour to get my EVO 3D into bootloader mode to flash a ROM. For the life of me I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

It should be simple, volume down and power...regardless of how I do this my phone boots up normally. I've tried the battery pull as well. What's the trick? Quick push of both buttons, hold down the volume, then quick push the power?

you have to uncheck fastboot so go into settings/app/uncheck fastboot.

That, plus you could do a few other things:

Yank the battery and then Vol Down + Power.

Hold Vol Up + Vol Down + Power until it shuts off, then Vol Down + Power to boot into bootloader.

If you're already rooted, install "Quick Boot" from the market. It will have a 'Recovery' option.

Quickboot is the easiest as I had mentioned before, it is a nice little tool, also get's you into recovery and allow you to reboot your phone at a touch of the screen

I figured out I simply wasn't holding the buttons down long enough. Essentially you have to hold them down until you see bootloader on the display.

Yep, but again QB will make your life much easier, give it a shot

Many ROMs have a X-in-one power option, where X could be 4, 7, or how ever many options they put in there. These will typically have all the options of Quick Boot in them, but I still like quick boot because I don't have to hold my power button :)

This is a different section, this section is for the 3VO 3D, you would be better off posting in the LG Optimus section, if you want me to move this post let me know, or you can simply start a new thread there and I am sure someone will guide you best there. Let me know;)

Hi,

My Device : LG Optimus Pro (C660)

I have tried the key combinations...

Volume Up + Home + Power button
as well as
Volume Down + Home + Power button
as well as
Quick boot (recovery) option

All the above show a green android'bot but not for long and then the phone boots into normally and my device reset to factory defaults.

Can somebody help me to boot my device into recovery/bootloader ???

Can't a LG stock ROM not boot into recovery unless a clockworkmod(CWM) recovery is not installed ?

How about booting into the bootloader mode ? Does this too recovery some CWM recovery installed ?

thanks,
aiamuzz.

As simple as this seems, I struggled with this problem, as well. For my Evo 4g I found that holding down the down button, and then tapping the power button was how it worked for me. I found that there was even a variable in how short or long to tap the power button. For me, it was a little longer than just a fast tap, but not too long, as in holding it down. DO hold down the down volume button for a longer time, as suggested, as the bootloader screen doesn't come up immediately.
