Chinese 8" Android tablet

I have just purchased an Android and am having difficulty charging it.

Although the connections are in place, the message 'connect your charger' appears on the screen.

Also, there is a lock symbol that appears on the opening screen which I am unable to get rid of.

The Android is a Cube 51 (K86-T-H).

Would appreciate any advice from other users.
