Considering a Samsung

Currently, I have an HTC Droid Eris. My 2 yr contract is finally up in Sept and I can upgrade! Although I'd prefer another HTC product due to relative ease of use and ease of root, I am considering a Samsung based on the reviews. The one thing that scares me though is that rooting the device seems complicated. Rooting my Eris was not difficult at all. Infact, by the time I rooted, a 1-click root app was available.

Those who have rooted a Samsung device, can you tell me what your experience with rooting has been?
