Just got a Nexus 7 (2013). My gmail account synced up and I can start tying immediately getting the person I need to send something to.

But when I go to the People App, nobody's home. Where the contact list on this device? Thanks.

Maybe you have to change contacts to display in the contacts settings to gmail??

By default they show your google plus contacts and everyone on your circle. You have to tap on the top left button to show your contacts.

Google does a really bad job at organizing your contacts. That's just my opinion, coming from a google fanboy.
