Epic’s spat with Google deepens as Fortnite has been removed from the Play Store

Earlier, Epic decided that they had enough of companies like Apple and Google taking a cut from in-app purchases made in their games like Fortnite. To circumvent this, the company introduced a direct payment method within the app itself, where the company priced the sale of its V-Bucks cheaper than if you were to buy it using the in-app system.

Yeah this could backfire on Google and Apple, but at the same time when Epic tried this same tactic a couple of years ago, countless compromised versions of the Fortnight app popped up online enticing clueless users to sideload those infected APKs, It was also was an educational matter for a lot of people when they infected their own phones with various malware and other exploits.
There's a double-edged sword here. Only install apps from highly curated app stores with heavy corporate oversight, or risk infecting your own phone. The sad fact is even if Epic makes screaming announcements to only do downloads from their site, or that there are valid independent sources for APKs, for most consumers they just rely upon whatever shows up when they do a search.
