Interesting enough, my attain just tried a fota update. I wonder what its for.
For over the air updates from MetroPCS/Samsung
An attempt to block built in wifi tether id immagine
Fota updat to 2.3.6
After reboot it showed a radio update notice. Playing with stuff to figure out if wifi tether was blocked.
What radio version are you showing?
Nothing seems changed really.
Can't test wifi tether.
my phone did that and the update un-rooted my device. =-\
So anyone that get this update what difference my end we fota error
No changes. According to metro there was no fota update. At first we thought it was a radio update but I later learned the radio versions didn't change.
Im inclined to believe metro. I don't think there actually was a fota update. Everyone that has seen the update message has one thing in common, they are rooted. Non-rooted attain users didn't get a fota update or message.
Now ask me why we got the message, and ill say hell if I know lol.
I'm rooted and never received a fota update.
I didn't say ALL rooted attains. I said the only people to get it have rooted attains.
Actually when I got it first (when I sent pictures) my phone was 15min out of the box and the second time I was rooted and it was 3am
I have 2 attains, both rooted. 1 recieved fota, 1 didnt. So I dunno.
Really? I hadn't heard of anyone with an unrooted phone getting it until now. Hmm maybe a conspiracy by metro? Lol. It didn't seem to do anything and they deny it even happened.
Mine isn't rooted and I got a forced update a few weeks ago.
Wanna settle it? See what may change?
Find a way to compare a full dump from a fresh rooted phone to one from the same phone after it auto updates or whatever is going on.
i have got the fota twice n my girl has a non rooted attain n she has yet to get one
