Don't know if this is news to everyone, but I have read that 4G LTE customers on Verizon will get the NFL mobile app and streaming of live games/video free this year. I don't know if that means the whole season or just to December 31st, but I did watch some of the Packers/Saints game yesterday on my phone, which was cool. So, Thunderbolt owners rejoice (if you like football). 3G only customers have to pay $10/month for the video access.

Darn, title of thread should read "mobile", not "moblie", whatever that is. Sorry.

Downloaded the NFL Mobile App as soon as I heard that it was free for LTE phones. Tried it out yesterday for the first game, not bad. I will find out more on Sunday when everyone plays. Looking forward to the Redzone. First "nice" thing Verizon has done...

Yeah I know. Wonder if that will change at some point, it would be nice to get the NFL mobile app for games when I am at work but I don't want to flash a Sense rom to do so. If the prime comes out on VZW perhaps the APK for it would work since it is AOSP. I remember on the OG Droid you had to set the carrier name in the notification pulldown to "Verizon Wireless" to get the NFL mobile app to work, too bad it isn't that easy now.

anyone know how NFL Mobile streaming compares to Directv's Sunday ticket streaming (which I am a long time subscriber to)?

Probably going to depend on your connection. I imagine it'd be pretty solid in a 4G market, whereas on 3G, might be a little hazy depending on area. Wifi would be similar. Currently downloading myself, and will be checking it out on wifi at home whenever I remember.

So far, on my DSL at the house on wifi, it comes through pretty clear. Pretty impressed so far with it.

Isn't this only free through the end of September and then $10 a month afterwards for VZW video services?

It states in the press release that 4G users will have access to video services all season. I think the trial through September is for 3G users.

Can you watch the actual game live? Or is it just highlights?

Only Sunday Night Football and NFL Network games can be watched live. I was watching the Thursday night opener (Saints/Packers) live on my phone, which was technically a "Sunday Night Game" since it was on NBC. I don't get the NFL Network, so this will be a cool feature for me personally.

When you install there is a splash screen that says "Enjoy the NFL at 4G speed! Upgrade to a 4g LTE device and enjoy NFL Mobile Premium for FREE for the entire 2011 NFL season with access to all live Thursday and Sunday night games and NFL Network! No separate video subscription is required. Data charges apply when downloading and using NFL Mobile"

Thats actually not completely true. There is fix/work around.

Check it out at RootzWiki - [FIX] NFL Mobile App on cm7

Actually it is very close to true, read the rootz thread and see the success rate. A few that can get it to work and an overwhelming majority that can't :(

Also from reading some sense rom threads today it looks like not all sense roms work either, some do some don't.

Mine launches and it just spins and spins and spins.....Kind of like Tony Romo's head after last night's game.....

I watched a little redzone this past sunday, driving home from Augusta, GA. Started out in 4G, was amazing, when it switched over to 3G when we got out of town, there was a definite loss of video quality, but still watchable except for the couple of dead zones we always hit. Very pleased with this, kudos to Verizon for giving us redzone free all year.
