Help From 1.6 to 2.2

I just called customer support and more or less they told me that they have no idea.At one point they told me theres no update coming , ever.At some other point they told me its the carriers business to deliver the update and that LG has nothing to do with it.At yet another point they told me its coming, as stated, in September. Go figure

I expect nothing from customer support in my country, they are barely useful for warranty coverage. When LG releases the update, I will flash it. Until then, it's a phone, use it!

Brought this phone today and it came with the 1.6 version as well. So we just have to wait a little.

Hmm I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.. This is LG we're talking about.. their customer service is as bad as their English :S

anyways - I just hope LG give us a few prettier widgets like the htc ones when they do the update - the gallery widget and the bookmarks are not a patch on the HTC versions.

Also the HTC dialler is a million times better than the LG dialler - so maybe this update will have a lot more than I expect!

yes it definitely looks like it.Maybe its some custom rom.The optimus one and optimus chic are launching with 2.2 and they have the custom LG home like the GT540 so this doesnt look like an official rom

I'm not sure if im correct but im pretty sure this is 2.2

Defo looks like a custom rom - its got a HTC clock on there - unless they are using beautiful widgets - but im sure it s a htc clock

Actually if you read the comments it says its Android 3.0 beta but if you had a build of the next version of Android about which nothing has leaked so far would you just post a 2 minute video showcasing a wallpaper rotating app and not bother to mention anything about the OS itself? No way

they could be using a home app like pandahome etc i know pandahome has a theme switching function when u shake and the clock could just be a widget.

hmm new problem, not sure if this is only happening to me but, I opened up the LGMobile Support Tool to see if there were any new updates and it took a while to load the program, so I thought there must've been an update to the program, but now my phone won't connect.. is this happening to anyone else?

It happens to me sometimes but i can fix it by restarting the phone. I ve also noticed that this problem only happens after i use a task manager to kill all running tasks. If i do that the phone cant connect until i restart it.

I don't use task killers, I've tried restarting my phone, I've tried with debugging on and off, I've tried leaving the phone in for a while and I've tried reinstalling the drivers. Seems like I've tried everything.. maybe there was an update to the program, now it doesn't want to recognize my phone.. I'll try on a different computer.

Androidplanet.nl has recently published an article dated Sept 22, saying that LG officially announced a 2.1 upgrade for GT540 cellphones before the end of the year !

I googled the web to find any official information from LG, as said in the article, with no results at all. Besides, I'm still waiting for an answer since I posted a comment to the journalist on Androidplanet.nl.

The information looks credible, even though it comes after many other promises of that kind, with no effects at all.

hey i upgraded my optimus to 2.1 frm 1.6 but now it says no update available . can i update it to 2.2

No there will be no 2.2 update for the GT540 and i doubt there will be for the future aswell,

Hey everyone,

I've made a post on this forum about getting 2.2 onto the GT540. It's CyanogenMod (if anyone is familiar with the ROM) and it's been successfully ported to the GT540. The bad news is, is that Quarx (the person from 4pda.ru who was porting this ROM) has stopped working on the ROM. His GT540 broke about a month back, and he's decided to stop working on the ROM and he's posted the source code on github in hope that someone will continue his amazing work!
