lol this rumor of us getting 2.3 this month carries no weight and i highly doubt that its true.. im gonna speculate that we won't get 2.3 until early april the earliest.. late june the latest

lol i wanna be optimistic but its hard considering how long these updates sometimes to take to get out there.. but yea april to june is just my opinion as to when we'll get it.. but hey im still checking for updates on my evo once a day. *fingers crossed* lol

This announcement's obviously going to have nothing to do with us getting Gingeqbread.

Am I the only one that thinks that it's more likely we'll get 2.4? I've been following this thread for a while and think it's odd that no one has mentioned it, even after the 3.0/2.3 change to the thread.

I highly doubt that sprints big announcement is android 2.3 to the evo. their greedy like any other company and their looking for new customers not to satisfy old ones. although the two can go hand in hand but my guess is that their announcing a new phone (maybe evo 2? probably not) but who knows maybe their big announcement is that we're the first phone to receive an android 2.3 update, following being the first phone to get the android 2.2 update.. that would show really great customer loyalty, but thats just wishful thinking. like i said most likely some new phone that is better than ours =(

Yeah I see us getting Gingerbread but I doubt they'll put Honeycomb on the Evo 1. It'd be nice to have Evo 2 launch with Honeycomb and the new Sense though :)

I don't know, I read that Honeycomb will be strictly a tablet OS... BELIEVE me, I too would love to have Honeycomb on my EVO, BUT, I imagine we'll have something which is and isn't Honeycomb for a smartphone, but again, more waiting.

Potent Gratitude~!!

If they announce the Evo 2 tonight I'll be as giddy as a school girl. I used a family member's upgrade to get my Evo on launch day (and passed my Hero to that person) so I've actually been eligible for an upgrade since Feb 1st. I love my Evo but I want something more (dual core please!)

I'm pretty sure its every 2 years normally...but if you have a Premier Account, the primary number gets full upgrades every 1 year.

WSJ: Sprint to reveal dual-screen Kyocera Echo at Feb. 7 event | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

Sprint's New York event is today and the carrier promises to reveal another "industry first." For weeks, the tech community has tried to guess what that industry first might be but for once, it looked like a company was going to escape the usual leaks and spoilers. But not so fast.
A new report by Wall Street Journal says Sprint will reveal a dual touch-screen smartphone by Kyocera at this afternoon's press event. Citing a source familiar with the situation, the Android device will be called the Kyocera Echo and sport two 3.5-inch touch screens.
The dual displays can be placed side by side (perhaps something similar to the Acer Iconia) to allow you to work on two tasks at once or drag an item from one screen to the other. The handset is also said to feature a pivot hinge, so you can tuck one screen under the other and use it like a traditional touch-sceen smartphone.
No additional details of the Echo were revealed, and both Sprint and Kyocera declined to comment. However, we don't have to wait too long for the full details, as the press conference is just a few hours away. Maggie Reardon and I will be there to live blog the event, so be sure to tune in here at 3 p.m. PT to catch all the latest news
