Root Help installing Cyanogenmod in Galaxy s3

Done, now I'm getting "Unfortunately trebuchet has stopped" and "Unfortunately Google play has stopped" any ideas? I'm reinstalling Gapps from zip to see what happens

If I remember correctly CM 10 is jellybean and CM 12 is Lollipop. Gapps should be different. If you have issues with Play Store flash Gapps for CM 12.

I usually do fresh install. Download CM 12 and correct Gapps. Copy to external SD. Preform all wipes in recovery, then flash rom and Gapps.

Wiped the cache and it works, just getting gapps error, will try flashing it again using another dowload, the one from 2016 didn't work.

That's the one that didn't install. I used gapps-lp-20150314 and it seems to work fine.
What else can i say... THANK YOU!
If you guys ever need a hand with something related to music dont think it twice and give me a shout:

Now check in settings-about phone and see if your IMEI info is correct and baseband is still the same. S3 is notorious for corrupting EFS data when flashing.

EFS backup is usually first thing I do but you had already started. When you get a chance pull your battery and look at sticker underneath. IMEI number listed should match what is in settings-aboutphone. If all is good you should only have to check APN settings and be back on the air

Glad it all went (relatively) smoothly @amagras. You did the right thing... when in doubt ask! :)

I'm moving this topic to the Galaxy S3 sub-forum, as I'm certain it will be of help to other members contemplating the move to Cyanogen. You've probably helped more people than you realise by starting this thread... thank you.

Will research on EFS as well as check the IMEI, thanks!

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome and the help. Will probably be back often in seek of knowledge and information!

Ok I'm back already. After awhile working fine and allowing me to download, update and install apps, Google play store crashes every time a accept the permissions. Googled it and seems to be a problem with CWM being out of date. Can someone please confirm this? I'm running recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.7-d2att

Did it, also uninstalled updates and still getting the same error.

Nothing rare downloaded or installed, just G+, YT and similar

Ok, this is what I would do. I'm not telling you what to do; I'm just saying what I would do.

I would download Open Gapps Nano to the SD Card. I'd boot into recovery and do a factory reset. Then I'd reflash CyanogenMod 12.1 and then immediately flash Open Gapps Nano.

I would. Make sure you get the right ROM; I believe they are stored in the directory cmupdater on the SD card or at least they are on my device. Also, make sure you download the correct version of Open Gapps nano.

Then:

1. Factory Reset
2. Flash ROM
3. Flash Open Gapps
4. Reboot
