Now I understand why you're having so much trouble. You're using the Samsung UI "my calendar" app. Yeah, that doesn't play with Google calendar. Go fingure, since this is an Android phone.
I use Launcher Pro, with the LP calendar widget. No issues, it already syncs with google calendar.
I'm quite new to Android as I just got my Mesermize thanks to the Element Mobile fiasco here in Wisconsin. I've had the phone for almost 2 weeks now and it's my very first Android device.
Sooo... what's Launcher Pro? I looked at their website and it doesn't tell me what it's for or does.
I had the same issue with setting calendar appointments on the phone only to realize that is where they sit and that they don't sync "up" to my Google calendar. Imho it's a piss poor design choice to not be able to set the pre-loaded calendar app to default to the Google calendar and/or sync upwards to the Google calendar automatically.
So now I'm trying to find an app/widget that will use my Google calendar by default so that I don't have to remember to set the calendar when entering appointments (that's aggravating).

Honestly, I don't know. I never put an appointment onto my calendar from my phone.
I work everything through our customer database at our office, which syncs with Outlook. If I set an appointment in the field, away from my desk, I email myself an appointment request. I then put it into my calendar from the office later.
If I use more than one process for appointments, I run the risk of forgetting an appointment.
You may want to look at a GCal type app from the market. I am certain there is something that is equivalent to K9 mail for the Google calendar.
Thanks, it was a actually my daughter who did it. she didn't realize when she added contacts or calendar items she needed to designate google. I copied her phone contacts to the sd card and imported them to google but couldn't find a way to do the calendar. I manually upgraded to 2.2 and it wiped the phone. Just wanted to find a way so she doesn't lose her data. Thanks anyway.
I just want to make sure I understand the problem and what we're trying to solve:
1. Calendar entries made on the phone are in the phone's data, not on the Google Calendar.
2. Phone has been updated, we're trying to save the data on the phone entries.
Correct?
If you flashed the 2.2 leak from XDA, then I'm pretty sure the data is gone. Like you said, the phone gets wiped clean.
The only caveat you have is if you made a backup of your phone's data before you started. If you did, then all you need to do is figure out how to extract the calendar data from the backup and import it into the calendar.
I know how to get the backup done, and where to look in the data to find the calendar info. I'm not sure where to go to import it into the calendar or her Google account.
If that's where you are, then we may be able to keep figuring it out.
Unless you've already moved on to something else.![]()
