Homtom HT6 problem with google search when updated

Have the HT6 and think it is great except for one problem. Everytime the google app updates google search just stops working no error message just does nothing. The only way to get it working is to uninstall the updates. Am running version 4.6.10.19 which works (original factory version). Phone runs on 5.1. It's just annoying as I have to remember not to hit update all on play store. Anyone else have this problem?
