Root How to install ICARUS 1.1 by Isaacj87

Hi. I am backing up my rom thing incase something bad happens and it said it skipped backup of applications on external storage and it skipped sd-ext. It backedup everything else and now says backup complete.

Is it safe to proceed? I have acopy of everything on my SD con my computer btw.
 
Please any one who has there phone on icarus 1.1 and they have metropcs...can u please send me your clockworkmod so that i can restore my phone back to the metro stock please please please....if you dont mind can you please send it to my email eccentric1988@gmail.com i would really apperciate!!:)
 
no im on windows xp. My phone is booting up fine (with correct buttons) while running cwm recovery fastboot and then getting waiting for device once I do recovery install.

I was goimg to try it last night but it was too late, but usb debbuging needs to be turned on right?

Well im not giving up. I will go at it again once im off of work. I cant believe this is kicking my butt so bad. I can softmod a wii like nobodys business. Lol.

if you already have icarus you should have the right cwm. if not look in the icarus 1.1 guide on the second post.

well thats odd... try redownloading the cwm files. maybe something tweaked out on you.
 
Ok well I will download it a 3rd time. Lol. Now i am unzipping it to my f drive which is my sd card. So I only have a cwm recovery folder which I open to run the 2 files. But I have noticed there has 2 other folders there, android and another plus cwm recovery folder, even after formatting the card. Is that correct?
Plus am I just supposed to leave it zipped and put it straight onto my sd card?

Sorry for all the questions. I know it is the smallest detail that I am missing. I feel like fallin at work just so I can go home and man up with this phone, lmao.

it doesnt go on the sd at all.

put it on your desktop or (as i have) in a folder with all your phone info and toys. run the programs from there.

the android folder is put on automatically when you format the card. also "lost.dir" i beleive.
do you mean +clockworkrecovery? or just clockworkrecovery?
can you screen capture your pc so i can see what you are looking at?
 
Sorry I meant including clockworkrecovery. But now I know it doesnt belong on the sd, lol. But I know the first day I had no problems running it from destop. I just couldnt get my phone to boot into cwm recovery. It was just showing android recovery. Hmmmm.

Again does usb debugging have to be on? thnx buddy

afaik it does. i think i had the same issue when trying to flash to icarus 1.0 and it made me give up before i accidentally bricked the phone.

if you don't have too much tuff you might loose i recommend factory resetting your phone to be sure you don't have a hidden copy of corrupted cwm chillin on there. ( i'm assuming thats what happened to me and this is what i did)
back your stuff up first so you don't loose your contacts.

that's the only thing i can think of.
go to contacts, menu key, manage contacts, backup to sd.

try cwm again and hopefully it works.
 
I will factory reset it once I get off work. Got contacts already sitting on my comp. Then I will just start all over. I will let you know how it goes later.

Did you flash Icarus 1.0 by any chance? A patch was released for 1.0 that fixed MMS problems.

Of course, now Icarus 1.1 is available too, which includes that and other improvements.
 
i got to love this mod. phone is WAY faster like any other android phone on the market, with a few tweeks this could be perfect. i still cant get the MMS settings to work on my phone and now it reads roaming indicator off ever since i did the flash. i figured out how to fix my own problem. and now im about to see if all the background apps are running properly
 
So i too am another icarus user!! and loving it!! it took me about 15 min to do tho, awsomeness!!! i was having an issue with the market in the beginning. i was not able to download anything even with wifi enabled. i was able to sign into my google account just fine so i ended up taking the battery ot for abouot 10 min, now everything works like a charm! you guys rock!
 
can anyone post the stock rom up so i can put it on my sdcard and install it. i lost my backup for my phone somehow and want to take it back to the factory setup

I get this thing that flashes on and off sometimes next to the 3G indicator. It looks like a lil satellite dish sending out (or receiving) a signal. What the hell is it?

And yes I'm on Icarus 1.1 (cricKet Huawei Ascend)
 
Well i finally got cwm recovery to boot but it says cwm recovery 3.0.0.5. Dang!!!!!!!!!
If it isnt one thing it is another... No PM reply yet. What should i do?? LMAO
