How to make the microphone on wired earphones work

Sometimes listening to music on some earphones with the music control buttons i receive a call and try to talk through the mic on them and i can hear the other person but they can't hear me. So I have to unplug the earphones and talk on the phone, it's not that bad but it would be nice to be able to talk through the mic on the earphones i payed kind of alot for. So does anyone know how to be able to use the mic on them? Also it has a volume up button, a volume down button, and a middle button for music control, but only the middle button seems to work, is there a way to make the volume buttons work too?

Oh yea and im on cm7 right now, but the mic and volume buttons still didn't work even when i was on the stock rom

Well maybe that kind doesn't work with the triumph, but try the app on the market called 'Volume Control'.

i noticed this too but i had a pair with a built in mic also so i just used those, oddly though my cousin has the optimus G or w/e and his headphones are just for listening music but on his phone he can use them to hear and his mic still works so guess the MT just dont work that way.

I, too, have this problem. When I hook my phone to my car stereo, I can hear the other person through my speakers but I can't talk back. Someone has got to know a way around this. Speak up!

I bought a cheap bluetooth thing from dealextreme with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microphone. It works perfectly for my car.

I believe those earbuds with a microphone, isn't there a switch you have to press where the wires from the L and R earbud come together?

In general, if you pair with a car that has BT, you have to make sure it has the proper profile to answer calls, and not just handle streaming audio. Plus, my Sony BT3900U has a special microphone that clips on my visor. You really wouldn't want to use the built-in microphone that is just behind the faceplate. If you did though, the radio probably has some mic gain settings... look for them.

I don't know of a BT phone-capable car radio, where you hear the callers audio through the stereo speakers, but the microphone remains on the phone.

Another possibility: there are BT speakerphone modules, but all they do is provide hands-free phone call. I don't know if they have outputs that can go to the stereo (if the stereo has mating inputs).

Perhaps a call to Crutchfields. They are very good with car audio.

I forgot where I got this from but if I hold down the play button on my headset/headphone as I plug the jack in, the microphone works. However, I lost the option to change the music with the button but it works to answer calls now though.
