Root How to root my updated htc evo 4g

Hello, everyone! I'm new to this forum shin dig, and I have been looking at how to root my phone. Ive seen stuff for the non updated version of the evo 4g but not the updated one...
the build number is - 5.07.651.6
can someone please help me?! have been trying to for a couple months now, why do they make it so hard?!

5.07.651.6? Hmmm, I thought the latest/last update was 5.07.651.1? I could be wrong, it's been a while since I have rooted that device---still have it as a matter of fact--fantastic device!! )

You basic root will consist of unlocking the bootloader and flashing a recovery, then the Super user .zip. (steps 1 thru 3 in that link).
Most folks stop there without going totally s-off. (securities off). You can still flash roms without s-off.
