Help HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) in U.K.?

My son will be in Ireland and Scotland for a couple of weeks. His sprint phone will not work there. I'm considering letting him take my EVO 4G so he can stay in touch. Can someone confirm that it will work in Ireland and Scotland? Will all features function normally?

I'm almost positive those countries are GSM only, which means the evo wont work.

the phone will not work over there via cellular. you are better off getting him a GSM phone or have him rent one there. he can use wifi to make voip calls however.

Yea what everyone said Europe is on GSM network and cdma will not work. He can obtain a cheap gsm phone there. It will ha dummy phone but it will function fine for the purpose of contact. If you still want to give him the Evo best thing is WiFi and Skype
