Root HTC Magic unlocked Update

I just bought a HTC Magic off another student here at college. He said that he bought this phone unlocked over in Germany. It is currently running the Android 1.5. I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade it to 2.2 or something more recent.

I have looked around on google but I didn't really see anything that pertains to my phone. I beleive this phone is also known as the mytouch 3G from T-mobile. However, I'm using AT&T with this unlocked phone.
