But, my X was rooted when it was Froyo. Verizon pushed Gingerbread. (I don't really remember when. I just remember there wasn't an option for me to decline it.) Of course, TiBU and Wireless Tether do not work now. I know I have lost superuser/root. (I had only rooted to WiFi tether once a week.)

My question: What's going to be the easiest, least painful way to get all my apps and root (and possibly load CM7 or something else, since I hate what GB has done to my phone)?

I can follow step-by-step directions if they're nice and plain and assume that the reader knows little. (I used the Dummies Guide posted here for my Droid Eris when I ROM'ed it, so I really can follow step-by-step directions without screwing it up!)

    Phone details:
    System version - 4.5.605.MB810.Verizon.en.US
    Android version - 2.3.3

Omg!! Thank y'all!! I've had nothing but headaches from gingerbread. I flashed miui last night & I'm in heaven!

I still get lightheaded holding my breath waiting for the first boot after flashing!

D@mn! Spoke too soon! Constant reboots. But they didn't start until I restored all my apps + data from TiBU. So, I wiped data and am trying again. I'm going to try just restoring my .apks instead of the user data as well.

Restore just apps and you have to uncheck the green stuff to be safe.

Oh & I did see (& read) the sticky, but I wasn't sure if I needed to start at the top and sbf or go straight to rooting since I had been rooted on froyo. You know conflicts and all that.

    Yes!!
I am mostly stable too. Still reinstalling apps though. I had over 300. I still have about 125 left to reinstall.

I'm a packrat! I download and install them, but I only use a handful. I really should clear out the ones I don't actually use.

Reboot and go into settings... apps... running apps/running services and see how many are running that you don't use. You can't install 300 apps and not have a performance hit.

Think I found my random rebooting problem. Open home 6 and some theme elements for it have not played well with miui. As soon as I try to reinstall and use them, I have headaches and my blood pressure goes up.
