Root I want a NEW ROM!

yes, im a proud owner of my optimus v. ive rooted. ive flashed roms almost just about every one, and im not satisfied! i flashed the aospCWMod and Cyanogenmod! but these mods are unstable for the optimus v! i hate that i cant find a good rom for the optimus v. i flash roms almost every other day to experiment! and now im back in square one, running the stock. -.- i was wondering if anybody knew about any other roms that are official. and made for the optimus v. and when are the creators of Cyanogenmod are going to make a stable rom for the optimus v? the sales are increasing drastically.

Moved to root section:)

BTW, 'google it' is NOT an acceptable response, EVER!

Also while the search feature on forums is great, and hopefully will be utilized - if someone comes here and asks a question, either answer it or don't. If you're going to suggest the search feature, be polite about it. Nothing irks me more than when I go to a forum, (and use the search!), then ask a question because I want some one-on-one with my problem, and get a simple "Use the search." reply. Suggesting it is encouraged, but don't withhold the answer because they don't.

Thanks for understanding:)

Would you mind to comment back on other ROMs you try and how they worked on the LG-OV please? Will be getting two of these soon and want to know real world performance on various ROMs. Thank you.

There are really only two that are worth mentioning. #1. Harmonia 1.3,stable as the rock of Gibraltar. The dev got rid of all the preinstalled apps she could,so it's lean and ready to customize how you want it(I went to UOT Kitchen for further color customization). More available room for apps. I have 106 installed apps and still have 130.5Mb left(I used App swap for the hard stuff, just took it one app move at a time).I went 32 hours off charge with light usage. 15 hours- moderate to heavy usage. You can overclock safely to between 725-750 with Set CPU...#2 Bumblebee 2.4 not quite as stable as Harmonia, but so close you might not be able to tell. The only difference with Bumblebee is it's supposed to be faster. If you are a gamer this would be a good choice. The app space is the same as Harmonia. I didn't have it installed long enough to tell how the battery off charge time was(I was in a flashing frenzy, if it was a ROM that would work on the "V" I wanted to try it). Everything works on these two ROM's and the "Time Without Signal" bug was fixed. If you want a stable ROM with room to customize, install apps, and have every thing working, these would be the two I would recommend.

Hey JerryScript, is the idea of a STICKY, "Nuub" proof guide to rooting, custom recovery, and custom ROM's, starting to seem more and more practical. I'm sure it would be extremely beneficial to all the "Nuub's" and make this site looked at by more people who would like to(but are apprehensive about bricking their only phone).Think of all the people who could benefit from that(and you wouldn't have to keep repeating yourself, except when they make a mistake, which "Nuub's" do sometimes). Wuda ya think Hu?You know you want to do it.Come on,pretty please! I could even help, from a "Nuub's" point of view if you know what I mean. I could try out everything and see were there could be room for error and then you could clarify those points,etc.,etc.....What do think?

Reporting in...flashed recovery and the Harmonia 1.3 ROM about 2 hours after I bought the phone, just couldn't resist. This little phone is really snappy. Coverage in my area is great and inside my home, fair.

Using LauncherProPlus on Harmonia, no issues. SetCPU set to 600-768, no issues whatsoever.

As a total Nuub I would recommend Rom tools as the solution. Rooting and recovery are the two biggest issues. Maybe if there was a how to thread on just those two subjects that would be the biggest help of all. If Jerryscript wants to take on this project I will support him in any way that I can. If a new How to section could be made containing just rooting and recovery techniques I think that would be the way to go if that is possible. People get frustrated when they have to go from one forum to the next to try and get info on this subject. If everything was in it's own section that would keep people at this forum. Just my two cents worth.

And also, for ppl who don't have a computer and can't use ROM tools, a concise version of how you guys helped me flash both rom & recovery using only the phone would be good. I could try to do that, using info from the thread, maybe, but we tried so many things, im not sure I could piece it together properly into a guide...

I'm kinda occupied right now trying to build Android from source for the Optimus V. It's turning out to be more of a challenge than I imagined. I've got my build environment setup using WiBu, and can run the make otapackage command, but it throws an error about rules for the rild. I'm pretty committed to figuring this out, once I do, I hope to create a one-click option for installing a full package that will make everything much easier.

Then there's work, and life outside the box to think about, kids out of school now, gotta hire a new cashier, etc etc etc. I'll try to get around to writing a tut, but I make no promises to when.

I appreciate all you past efforts. Sometimes I forget that we all have lives outside this forum. It sounds like yours is more like the proverbial one legged man's. Hope everything works out for you.

Soo you are working on your own deal. Things make more sense to me now. Thats awesome dude!! Never was trying to be rude. Looking forward to this. Oh and thank you for all that you have done and will do in the future.

I didn't think you were rude at all. :)

I'm working on building a CM7 port, no idea if/when I'll be able to get it all to work, when/if I do, I'll post for beta testers.

Maybe you could fix the bluetooth and the voice search button. These are the only things wrong with the new OV port. The headset works most times and when it didn't I just rebooted to get it right, which was kind of a pain some times. I'm dependent on the headset as I use my "V" to play all my music in the car now.To have to go through the process of rebooting everything while driving, and no bluetooth, are really the only thing holding me back from making the CM7 port my ROM of choice. Harmonia has still got it beat for reliability and everything working.
