Icons not automatically being added to desktop

Hi

OK so on my phone and also past phones when I installed an app the icon would pop up right on my desktop automatically.

But on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 they don't so in order to get to the icon I then have to swipe up from the bottom or use a separate app to add the icon to the desktop which is sort of a pain.

Is there a way to change this so new app icons are put onto the desktop automatically?

I don't know if the settings will be exactly the same on your phone but on my Pixel 5 the setting is here:

Long press on home screen > home settings > add apps to home screen.

Thanks that's right where it was and it was turned off so I turned it on.
