Help Inbox contents deleted when new mail arrives?

Since upgrading to Froyo, whenever I get new email, any existing email in my inbox is automatically shifted to the Trash folder. Is anyone else having this problem? Will doing the factory reset fix this?

I'm having a similar problem since the 2.2 upgrade. In my case mail in my inbox simply disappears once I download the same mail on my computer and it is deleted from the server. This did not occur with 2.1, with 2.1 mail was downloaded to the phone and stayed there until I deleted it even when I downloaded the same mail onto my PC. It just doesn't make sense to me; if it's been downloaded to the phone it should stay on the phone.
