Help Is it Android or my phone?

I have a Viettel V8411 phone using Android Version 4.2.2. It does many obnoxious things. For example, I have shut off Spell Check in Settings, but Spell Check continues to replace words I want with those I don't. Also, although I set audio on vibrate only, the phone occasionally decides to revert to "general" ring without me wanting it to. Will changing my phone solve these problems or are they inherent in Android, and if so, would I be better off with Apple?

But hey, swap a $60 android phone for a $600 Apple device and you should notice a difference...
