JuiceDefender on DROID?

Well, it's still helping me. The GMail coming in every 15 minutes is a battery plus on my side since I get alot with two accounts.
I just got (with minimal to moderate useage) 16 hours uptime from 100% to 40% - I will take that in a heartbeat. This app is not the sole contributor, but helps a great deal.

I am in the beta group for this app. This is what I read on the forum this morning on the topic, from the author of Juice Droid:

Sigh... coming back from the airport yesterday I had this striking
feeling that JD is pretty much doomed.
Sorry for curbing your enthusiasm so abruptly (btw, that series is hilarious).
Here's the thing: I had discovered the 'testing' app a couple of weeks
ago when I was trying to find a way to programmatically switch to 2G
(as you probably know, Google forbids that since Android 1.5). This
app does its things by talking directly to the Radio Interface Layer
deep down in the Android OS. I've tried *everything* in order to do
the same (spent 3 days doing some serious Java hacking) to no avail -
I've always got, at some point, an error complaining about security;
it turns out the testing app can do anything it wants because it's
been signed with a platform certificate that only
carriers/manufacturers (and Google) have - like the regular 'settings'
app (btw: it *is* possible to switch to 2G only/3G _on rooted phones_
- I have a working prototype).
I think that carriers just decided to pull the plug on the whole APN
business. Somebody will in all likelihood discover a workaround, but
of course it'll be for rooted phones only. This is really bad.
