Root Long time owners chit-chat thread

This has become quite a booming thread so i thought i would make it more of a place to chit chat with our old crew.

i have gotten my mitts on my OV AND a OS. still have my S3 and have aqquired a hard bricked LG l35g (i think.)

oh well enjoy!

My little giant OV is still rocking stronger than ever.
Mrg666's MiRaGe is now the Best ROM and the ZenGarden is by far the best recovery.
Over 2 years old, might easily go 3, and I'm still only paying $25.00 a month.

Look in the All Things Root Guide sticky.
I have put all sorts of new stuff in there since you moved on to other devices, including Jellybean stuff.

I still enjoy mine. Also $25 a month.
Now I actually can tweak it, when I got it I was upgrading from a Rumor Touch. Java (J2ME) phone. This was my first Android experience. 2nd Linux-on-phone experience (Palm Centro with developer testing linux people gave me to give feedback on.)
I knew next to nothing about Android before my Optimus V. I've learned quite a bit. People who have more experience have been very helpful, and the open-source community posting code all over the place has also helped me learn and develop.

Have to say I'm finally moving on from my V after 2+ maybe even 3 years with it. Decided it was time to treat myself to a Xmas present by getting the Nexus 5. Switching to T-Mobile who has a $30 plan and for $5 more just couldn't pass up the better 4G coverage and getting a Nexus 5...I have a Nexus 7 tablet and love the thing...hoping the same for the Nexus 5 phone!

V is sticking around though and will become a music player streaming iheartradio and pandora via Bluetooth to my home stereo.

Ahhhh my first android ever LG Optimus V.. This is where it all started. Learning how to root, flash kernels and custom ROMs, init.d scripts, build.prop tweaks. Everything started with my baby. I miss Leslie's Harmonia ROM as well as BobZHomes ROM I forgot what it was called.. Now I'm a flasholic. Good times good times.

I now have a Nexus 5 and I'm loving it.:thumbup::D

What, or where is that?

As for myself, I mostly use my V as a streaming music player via WiFi at home. My newer Event is better for video and games, but I'm glad I have held onto my V. I used it temporarily as a backup phone while searching for my new daily driver around the last week of September. I went crazy with kernel tweak options using Pimp My ROM on a Kyocera Rise. That made the phone boot loop permanently... BRICKED. I didn't have any idea at that point about the problem... anyway I don't miss that phone anymore... okay, a little. I did like having the physical keyboard on it, though. I might get another phone like it someday if they're still around in the future.

It would be great if a dev could get KitKat to work on the V! I might actually try that, as Google has said that KK should work on lower end devices. I still might try JB on it at some point, but I love the stability of MRG's ROM.

I'm just amazed that my V still works as well as it does, even with the considerable number of times that it's overheated. Not a lot to kill it, but enough to make me concerned about the usability of the phone. I run it at 480-806 MHz, interactive governor, and that's where I've kept it for more than a year now.

You will get better battery off charge times and less overheating if you have it set to 480MHz min - 768MHZ max.

Still rocking my OV, just can't afford a new handset. Believe it or not, I'm still running my own custom rebuild of BACKside! I never released it because by the the time I had it just right everyone on this phone was running stuff by thekraven (why run GB when you can have ICS/JB?) I stick with GB on this simply because it has the best hardware support for this handset.

Didn't know you had a build of backside, i would have loved to try it out.

I'm still running GB, MiRaGe very fast and stable rom.

The guys are real close to getting kit-kat goin for our phone, just amazing how much you can do with this beast of a phone, who would have thunk! :)

Even worse, run around with several "more expense VM phones", Kyocera Rise, HTC One V, Moto Triumph and even Samsung Galaxy Reverb, still coming back to this little dynamite! Love it so much, pick one up brand new from Walmart months back when they phased out OV, got one for $34.99, so, I am running $25 per month with 2 OVs, one with phone line, another just for wifi tweak around. I love this little dynamite!

bun

I'm honestly a little afraid to get a different phone, I might be disappointed! The bar has been set rather high, after all.
