Manually Update Your Nexus One To Android 2.2 Froyo!

I'm wondering if this would be the final version. If we install it now, and when the final version comes out OTA, would we get notified and be able to install the OTA version?

So I went ahead and performed the manual update, and everything works great so far. The only issue is, I'm not seeing all the apps in the market. To list a few I'm not seeing:

Touchdown Full Version (the free I can download)
A few other full version apps, however I can see the free ones.
Helix Launcher
Wii IME App
A few others I can't recall off the top of my head.

I'm not sure if this is a version issue or something, but after 30 days, when touchdown's evaluation expires I'll be in a bit of a pickle at work with calander.

Can i use this update on my moto droid? is it safe and should i try it, i know how because i did this process for 2.1, does anybody know if its safe to do this with my droid using the nexus one update?

After looking more into it now, I'm noticing it's 90% only the pay version of apps. When I search for them individually, I only see the free versions. For almost all apps.

I'm hoping this is a temporary version thing... =/

Because I think it was Droidlife that had, at the top of the instructions, large bold letters saying not to try this on the moto droid. There are a number of important hardware differences between the two phones, I assume that is a big part of it.

Of course, you're welcome to try it and tell us all what happens.

thank you i saw that article too, i was thinking about trying it thinking maybe the worst that could happen was the update just not working, and then stripping the file from my card, although, the risk is not worth it for me, i am looking for somebody who has tried it, thanks much : )

Drivers are different for motorola and htc..... droid has a keyboard and no tracball..... If it was that easy we would have had a working 2.1 as soon as the nexus one was realesed.
