I bought one of these in Bangkok last week. It has an ethernet connector & I wanted to use it to play movies from a Dlink DNS-323 NAS box on my home network. Trouble is it can't do this over the wired network & is flaky on wireless. Sometimes I can't even see the movie files on the Dlink box on wireless (Often seeing folders, but not the files within).
I am using Buzz player as thats the only one I know of which can access networked media files. The dlink is flashed with alt-f and is running mediatomb. That works OK with a PC on the network.
My box is branded M-Tek & the about function in settings reports the following:
Model MBX DVBT reference board (c03ref)
Android version 4.0.3
Kernel version 2.6.34 (ricky@amlandroid#23)
Build number ICS.MBX20120627
