Missed the $200 Samsung deal, am I done for?

Does anyone know if you can get either the BB or Samsung rebate if you re-up your 2 yr. contract without being upgrade eligible? I know you would have to pay extra if not eligible, but the rebate would cover much of the penalty money wise.

Should be fine. The keys are preorder, upgrade and qualifying device to trade.

Um....from what I've been able to find, this is not quite the case. Since I'm only eligible for a partial Next upgrade, the extra monthly premium adds up for 20 mos. to around $840. This would be minus $200 rebate, but imho is till very costly. This is like buying the phone off contract minus the rebate, which for me is a non- starter. (I was thinking more like $299+$250 penalty for the "partial upgrade" - the $200 rebate.)

Yeah, I read that wrong. I still do not know how Samsung expects to police this. The premise of the offer invites massive failure. The offer from Samsung should have been more like Best Buy and directly through the carriers. That way you know where you stand right now, rather than having to wait and then be told "not eligible".

That is unless they give you an early out....

Why did you ask if already knew the answer? ;)

I wouldn't ask if I did. My second note was after trying to get more info. after my original post. I didn't and still don't know the definitive answer, only vague responses by clueless people at AT&T and BB. Hoping someone here could provide clarity and/or their own similar experience(s)....guess not.

UPDATE: This is what I was told today with a trip to BB. If I want to stay with my current partial AT&T upgrade, it would cost me the roughly $800 for the phone minus the $200 rebate.

CONCLUSION: Still too expensive for me and not worth it although I WAS impressed with the phone.

They told you wrong. The terms state contract only and there is no way to override the process even by a manager. That is not how their point of sale works for gift cards or discounts. It is very scripted with no wiggle room for gift cards.

All I can say is that particular Samsung guy was very, in fact the most, informative of any one I had spoken to at Best Buy. That said, I can't disagree with you about him be wrong.

Latest UPDATE: with all the information, misinformation on getting the new phone and staying with my carrier without having a full upgrade, I decided to bite the bullet and preorder the Note 4 on a new start-up plan with Verizon. I bought the gift card, and figured I can still change my mind prior to arrival of the new phone in about 9 (?) days....a win/win thus far.

If you pre-order the Note 4 at Best Buy you can use $200 rebate when Note 4 comes in Oct 17th. Samsung rep told me this information. You have to trade in old Smartphone to be able to qualify for it.

The misinformation is interesting, since the terms now clearly state contract only. Even if a mobile BB thinks it, they will find out the hard way when trying to authorize the gift card with the offer. They have two options, on contract and off contract.

If the BB person looked at their own corporate policy terms and actually looked at their point of sale for the offer, they would see. Always a Dumb and Dumber chance of their POS system getting changed before the sale. If anyone appreciates the process for POS updates facilitated by their corporate help desk, they would appreciate the lack of expediancy in such global changes.

We shall see. I am hoping the off contract buyers are somehow able to get the offer :) Not the double dipper wannabes though. I relish their failure with the offers :)

So... we're supposed to trade a working phone into a "participating retailer". I've never traded a phone into a retailer, other than at a VZW store when purchasing a phone from them. Can anyone provide some examples of "participating retailers"? Would those self-serve kiosks at the mall qualify? TIA.

I preordered from ATT I went to the actual store the other day and the first thing they said is they honor the Samsung rebate. So basically just take it to your carrier store VZW, Sprint, ATT for the trade in.

I got my Note 4 today(Tmobile) and tried to enter my information on the phone website. It asks for IMEI and WIFI MAC address. After entering those, I get an error that IMEI and/or MAC address are invalid. Samsung support says the IMEI is valid. The MAC address is copied directly off the phone. Different browsers or machines make no difference. Anyone else successfully entered the information?

I'm having the EXACT same issue. I'm with Sprint.

Anyone having issues with the rebate process? I went to upload my receipts today and I keep getting an "invalid IMED and/or Wifi MAC address" error. I'm getting the numbers directly from my phone and I keep getting the same error message.

Never, ever had a phone larger than 4.8". I was never fond of my Galaxy S3 build quality, but I was tired of iPhones. So I was hesitant about pre-ordering a much larger phone than what I have and finally went ot the store to check it out. Love the slim factor, love the screen, felt great in hand and can handle the size.

However, I missed out on the $200 deal from Samsung. I think that's going to hurt, because at $825 compared to the $650 nexus, that hurts even more. Anyone know if they usually run deals on the Note?

I would hold out for a month. Either there will be a new rebate/deal when the edge comes out or note 4s will get a new special for black Friday and the holidays. .02

Thanks. Forgot about thanks giving coming up. I rarely buy new phones, but my S3 is wearing on my performance wise and the Note 4 was smooth as butter. Hopefully something comes up soon.
