    Hello all

I'm having a problem at the moment, ive got a few DVD's i want to be able to watch on my galaxy S2, but when i rip them off the disc and put it on my S2 it never fills up the screen theres always a bit at the bottom, or the side thats just empty, perhaps theres an obvious solution i'm missing, as i can't find anyone else who has had the same problem, and the fact that putting the words, "screen" "movie" and "galaxy S2" into google just brings up a mountain of reviews and what not have left me no option to to actually ask for help, so, what settings do i need to use to get my videos to fit the screen?

Additionally where can i get HD movies for my S2, or alternativly, how do i rip blu rays to my S2?

    All thoughts appreciated, thanks :)

well most movies are made in the theatrical aspect ratio.. on ur TV or laptop screen, u will notice the same black bars.. u cant get rid of them on ur phone either, unless u stretch the display or zoom in, cropping the sides.. both are not ideal at all. ur movie player will have these options if u want. i use mx video player.

however, there are quite a few movies made in 16:9 aspet ratio, which fits ur phone screen great. u can do a quick google for movies made in 16:9. many movies such as dark knight etc, have entire scenes in 16:9, the imax scenes, but revert to the ordinary theatrical aspect ratio for the rest.

i havent ripped blu rays, but i use handbrake for DVDs.. maybe this works for blu ray too? not sure

    Thanks for your post heshanji

i'm looking for video's in 16:9 aspect ratio now, seems if you look hard enough you can find most movies in this aspect ratio, i'm ripping my DVD with these settings, although does resolution play a part when it comes to wether or not the image will fit to screen? sorry for these noobish questions, i'm used to rippng DVD's for my ipod classic, not a galaxy S2, which is my first smartphone, ill post again when my DVD has finished ripping

Well i tried getting the video in 16:9, in the end the web brought me most success, my video player was able to make the video fit the screen, if not looking a little stretched, i guess at this point its the best it's going to get, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction on this one
