Help Need Help!

Hi there. I'm new to this forum and i don't know if this is where I should be posting this, but I need some help. I forgot my phone was in my pocket when I went swimming and I did what I heard I was supposed to do. I took out my battery and SIM card immediately and let everything dry in the sun. when I got home I wrapped my phone in those packets that absorb water/moisture that come with new shoes and other clothing items and did the same to the battery. after 24 hours I popped the battery back in and the phone turned on but there was 1 big problem, the screen was black. everything else seemed to work but I couldn't see the screen at all. Any advice on what I should do? I would prefer to just repair my phone rather than get a new one because I am quite fond of it and would love to keep using it for another year until I get my upgrade. I'm not sure if this problem can be repaired though. any help or advice is welcomed. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to Android Forums. Your screen might well have died. However, you might try placing your phone in a container or baggie of dry rice. It might still have some moisture in there. I wish you luck and I'm sorry your phone took a swim. Thanks for joining and using these forums.

If the screen did die is it possible to repair? I'm not that good with phones :p

It is possible to repair absolutely. You will have to most likely order the glass+LCD. This is more expensive to order (it'll run you $150 or more depending on where you get it). Since you're not good with phones I would recommend scoping out a reputable repair shop in your area and see what they would charge.

You're welcome. Now I will say that the shop you take it to will give you the final verdict on cost to fix it. Just make sure the shop has good ratings

I don't have insurance on the phone sadly. I was paying for it every month and I canceled it last month because I was fairly careful with my phone and thought it was a waste of money :P . but another question. I've got a brother who is very good with technology. He can do a screen replacement for me instead of having to taking to a local shop. My question is can someone help me find one because I don't exactly know what I need to buy or look for. I feel like it would be a lot more money than $7 but thats all I see on google. I'm thinking this won't fix my problem. I think this $7 thing I'm finding is only for cracked screens and not for a problem like this. I feel like it would be a lot more expensive. Can someone link me to what I need? pleaseeeee! :)

Sad to hear about the insurance :( I actually did that when I had my S3. Canceled it and then soon after I dropped it and cracked it.

If your brother can help then certainly that would be a cheaper route to take versus taking it to a local shop

As far as where you can buy the screen: I highly recommend buying the glass and LCD assembly together. It'll run you around $170. I'll check a few places where you can buy it from. Check my next post :)

1 last question guys. I've got a friend who's touch screen isn't working after dropping it in water last week. the screen is visible and the phone turns on but the touch screen doesn't work. would an LCD assembly fix his problem??

Depends. Most likely yes BUT since it got water damaged that friend may have to get the internals inspected first

So I got my new LCD Assembly and hooked everything up. Now the only issue is that whenever I plug in my phone to charge I got a "Battery Disconnected" warning and it won't charge. I tried a different battery and I got the same warning when I plugged it in. any advice guys?
