New andriod user and need some help

Hey everyone I have an iPhone right now and I'm selling it and getting the verizon driod this Friday... And I've never had a andriod befrre and had a few questions. First off what us the best Instant messenger application?... What is the best Twitter client? And last thug I heard about the 256mb limit for apps but I heard u can somehow root into phone ad install apps onto sd card even though u can't...thanks everyone any other revommended apps a must buy like games let me know
