Not to be confused with CyanogenMod, or Moto Mods that were released today, but Cyanogen have just announced an update to version 13.1 for their Cyanogen OS software.
We've heard about their MOD platform before and it looks like Cyanogen OS 13.1 is the first time these features will be available on smartphones. MODs are basically apps that use special APIs to hook deep into the mobile OS.
So you could use a messaging MOD, and it would be as if it's the stock messaging app for Cyanogen OS (assuming it has been coded to utilize those APIs).
