Help No 4G, No 1X showing on top of the screen, And phone only works on Wifi.

Is it possible that Metro is disabling LTE on rooted devices? As soon as I root my phone the LTE radio gets disabled.

No as that would be illegal and could earn them a class action lawsuit. Rooting a phone is not illegal anymore because a federal judge passed a law making it legal. The only negative aspect of rooting is the fact that your manufacturers warranty is voided.

it could also be your data plan.. metro hides something from you when you buy this phone they said you must get the 50$ unlimited plan for this phone however it is not really unlimited it has a 1g gap so if you pass over that they will slow down your speed or completely block your 4g the 1x should still work so im not sure about that not working but the 60$ plan is the real unlimited plan however if you use it to say give wifi to your pc or any other wifi device they will slow down your speed of course all of this is in small tiny letters in the user agreement on their website

K guys quick update I just found out that its not a data limit but more like a bandwidth limit say you use your phone to download torrents wich usually open up mutiple server request this can cause metro's network so if you use your phone to download any heavy file and by heavy I mean that requires a lot of badwidth most likely metro will slow down your speed or completly block your 4g signal so no torrents people stop watching porn lol

It was never illegal (no law was ever on the books against it), all that ruling did was clarify that it is in fact legal. However, a carrier can say you are violating their terms of service and cut you off if they wish. Anyway, my LTE radio is fried, LTE will become disabled shortly after I get it restored. I am going to take this phone in for a warranty exchange, buy the LG Esteem, and sell the refurbished phone on Craigslist. This will be the last Samsung phone I ever own, every Samsung Android phone I have used has had issues.

The data limit is for streaming media over their services, not that it matters since I have the $60 plan. And there is no way I could have used the 1GB limit if I had it anyway, seeing as how I'm on a new month.

Rooting was illegal because to root you must modify software and software is intellectual property. Modifying that software without permission results in violating intellectual property laws. Violating any kind of law means you're doing something illegal, thats why it used to be illegal but now it's all fine and dandy. :D

P.S. Why do you think SONY is now helping devs to root their phones but telling them they will stil void warranties by doing so?

The only way it would be illegal is if you had to break a copy protection scheme (i.e. DMCA). When you root a phone all you are really doing is changing a setting, it would not fall under that provision. However, installing a custom ROM on say a Motorola handset that has protection would have been a DMCA violation before the law was updated. The reason why companies tell you that you'll void your warranty by rooting/installing a custom ROM is so that they do not have to deal with people calling tech support after screwing their devices up, especially since physical damage can even occur from a badly written ROM. And it is trivial to flash back to stock before sending it in for a warranty repair.

EDIT: Btw, I picked up the LG Esteem earlier and I could not be happier. Everything on this phone just works. Now I have to ship the Indulge to Samsung so I can get it replaced with a working phone to sell, hopefully I can get at least $170 for it.
